Maldives Attracts Over 1.7 Million Tourists in 2024

Tourism sees a 9.5% increase compared to last year, with China and Russia leading the way in arrivals.

The Maldives has welcomed more than 1.7 million visitors so far in 2024, reflecting a 9.5% increase compared to the same period last year.

As per the Ministry of Tourism’s latest update for November 12th—covering arrivals up to November 11th—the Maldives has recorded a total of 1,728,045 tourists.

In the same timeframe last year, the country hosted 1,577,890 tourists.

On average, 5,468 tourists arrive daily, and visitors typically stay for an average of 7.7 days.

In terms of leading source markets, China remains in the top position with over 240,000 arrivals, followed by Russia in second place, with more than 193,000 visitors.

  • So far this November, the Maldives set its record for the highest single-day arrival on November 3rd, with 6,828 visitors, while the lowest was recorded the following day, with 5,076 arrivals.

    With the momentum of tourist arrivals, the Maldives is well on track to meet its annual target of 2 million visitors, which the government set earlier this year.
